Chocolate and peanut butter are two of my favorite flavors together! I love this peanut butter chocolate protein shake because it helps keep my daily intake of protein high which also helps to keep my energy levels sustained throughout my morning and that’s a win-win.
When I first started eating a plant-based vegan diet at one point it got a little difficult trying to get enough protein intake on a daily basis. I like eating different types of beans and legumes recipes, but some days I want a high protein source that is different and little quicker to make, so I did some research and found a high protein powder that is vegan, easy to digest, and doesn’t compromise taste when added to any kind of smoothie that I have made so far.
This peanut butter chocolate protein shake can be blended in no time, making this a perfect shake to make on those busy mornings to take with you on the go or a mid-day meal replacement shake.

What you will need:
Equipment
Blender
Ingredients
Plant based milk – 3/4 cup
Bananas – 2
Pea protein powder – 2 scoops (4.3 tbsp)
Peanut butter powder – 1 scoop (2 tbsp)
Cacao powder – 1 tsp
How do I make this peanut butter chocolate protein shake?
Add plant-based milk (I use almond milk), bananas (I use frozen bananas), pea protein powder, peanut butter powder and cacao powder to blender and blend until smooth. For a sweeter taste, don’t use banana unless it has a good amount of brown spots around peel. If you don’t have frozen bananas readily available, then you can just add 1/2 cup of ice if you prefer a cold temperature smoothie.
How do I store the peanut butter chocolate protein shake?
I recommend enjoying this shake immediately, but if need to store it should be fine in the freezer for up to 24 hours for best taste.

How did this peanut butter chocolate protein shake recipe turn out for you? Let me know in the comments below 🙂
That last picture of the shake served makes me want to go prepare it immediately. I am turning towards shakes and exercises. I have been living a healthy lifestyle since this pandemic started. And I don’t stop from finding new and cool things I want to try. I thought I would not be able to eat hardly anything. But I was so wrong.
Thanks for stopping by Ann! Shakes and exercises is a great way to help live a healthy lifestyle, I’m sure you will enjoy this shake. Glad I could help you find a new recipe to try 🙂
I haven’t tried protein powder before, but I know that pea protein is a very complete protein. With that shake you’re probably set for the day 🙂 I’d like to try it out, and perhaps replace the peanut butter powder with strawberries. I love the taste of peanut butter, though. I’ll probably try out both versions 🙂 Where can I get this protein powder?
Hey Christine! Yes I am for the most part set for the day with this shake. Strawberries sound really good to replace, that sounds very good to try. I bought it from Amazon, and it’s the best protein powder that I have tried compared to others; but you can definitely try this shake with any protein powder that you have on hand. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
How many tablespoons or teaspoons are 1 scoop, please? Thanks in advance!
Hi Margaret, both protein powders do come with their own scoop cup, but just in case it doesn’t for some reason or you are using a different brand that you like 1 scoop of the pea protein comes out to be about 2.15 tbsp and 1 scoop of the peanut butter comes out to be 2 tbsp. I also updated the recipe above to include the tbsp measurements, thanks for stopping by 😊.
Thank you for suggesting a peanut butter chocolate protein shake and showing us how to prepare it. I will give it a try.
I am allergic to milk protein. So I have been testing several options. Soy and almond milk are great. And milk-free pure chocolate and milk-free muffins and cookies are wonderful treats.
You’re welcome, Ann! I agree, soy and almond are great as well as those other treats. Once you try it, let me know how it turns out for you. Thanks for stopping by!
