When I found out that I could make my own vegan vanilla ice cream, I could not wait to try it! Once I tried it, the rest was history and I’ve been making homemade vegan vanilla ice cream ever since. This is fun and great to make or have ready when you come in from a hot summer day. I also enjoy this ice cream during the cold months as a side with some or really any type of warm dessert because I have a big, sweet tooth. Today, I want to share how easy and quick it is to make vegan vanilla ice cream without using an ice cream maker.

Vegan Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe:
Makes about 4 cups
Ingredients
Frozen bananas – 4
Vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp
Plant-based milk – 1/3 cup
Instructions:
1. Add frozen bananas, plant-based milk and vanilla extract to blender.
2. Blend in your Vitamix on lowest setting until desired consistency.
3. Scoop out of blender into cup or bowl. Add sprinkles, fudge, cinnamon or any other topping that you’d like and enjoy.
4. Scoop the rest out into a freezer safe container and store in freezer for up to 3 days.
Recipe Tips:
- Make sure your bananas have a good amount of brown spots (for a sweet taste instead of bitter) before peeling and freezing overnight for best results.
- I did not blend any higher than the lowest setting to get the consistency of ice cream.
- If you want soft serve type consistency of ice cream blend for longer than 1 minute.

August 20, 2021 at 3:13 PMI’m not a vegan, but I would probably try anything if it tastes good. My question is, what would be the benefit of trying a vegan ice cream, that can’t be found in a non-vegan one? Is it healthier, less fattening, or something else? Also, this may be hard to do, but how would you define the difference in tastes?
August 21, 2021 at 4:46 PMHi Fyne,
Thank you for commenting, you should definitely try it because it tastes pretty good. Homemade vegan ice cream made like this recipe compared to the dairy version is healthier because it does contain less fat and supports healthier cholesterol levels. Bananas are also one of the healthiest fruit you can eat because it contains a great amount vitamins and minerals. The only difference in taste I’ve notice is that the dairy version has a creamy and heavy taste vs the vegan version having a creamy and light taste, if that makes any sense.
September 2, 2021 at 1:39 PMI love ice cream and wanted to learn how to make it at home.
The problem is that my mum is vegetarian. Not a vegan, but she doesn’t drink milk either.
Since we are about to pay her a visit, I want to surprise her with some recipes for Vegan Vanilla Ice Cream.
I did stumble upon your article and just wanted to thank you for the great idea.
PS. we all love bananas a lot of with brown spots 🙂
Cheers

January 13, 2022 at 12:44 AMSince this new year started, I have been eating healthier. I would like to try Ice creams that contain only natural ingredients and are free of dairy, gluten, and soy.
I would not like to taste an ice cream that is not sweet. But having a small amount of natural sugar that comes from coconut can do the trick.
