This is one of my favorite easy cheese sauce recipes whenever I am craving cheese. This cheese sauce does not contain any nuts and it is dairy-free. Most cheese sauce recipes use some type of nut like cashews, so I wanted to try out a quicker recipe that did not require any soaking overnight like cashews that is usually require. Chickpeas are close to the same color as cheddar cheese (my favorite), are protein-packed and taste really good (especially when using the right seasoning), so I thought why not make chickpeas into a cheese sauce. This easy cheese sauce recipe it’s very quick to make, comes out creamy and yummy and goes great on pretty much anything you put dairy cheese sauce on.

August 30, 2021 at 12:56 PMThank you for this post, a vegan friend of mine is coming to visit me soon from another country, and I always struggle to cook for him for days, this cheese sauce will be a great addition to the menu I have already kinda planned. Funnily enough, your black bean burger is already on it, but I do it with a twist, I boil sweet potatoes and mash them up and add them to the mix, It tastes amazing with the black beans and you can also add a tiny sprinkle of cajun pepper or cumin, makes such a difference.
Thank you for the article,

September 2, 2021 at 12:17 PMYou’re welcome Reka! That’s awesome! I will have to try it with boiled sweet potatoes, that sounds delicious.
September 17, 2021 at 2:18 AMI love adding onion powder and garlic powder. When I was starting this journey, I was a bit concerned that I would have to leave behind all the delicious food. But now that I have been a few months in, I realize how mistaken I was. It can be vegan and also yummy! I appreciate that you took pictures of your own process preparing this recipe.
September 19, 2021 at 1:53 AMHi Ann! Onion and garlic powder are my two favorite seasonings and I agree you do not have to leave behind all the delicious food. Thank you 🙂
December 9, 2021 at 10:47 AMThis is something new. Who would have thought of making a cheese sauce with chickpeas? Even Nutritional Yeast is something one wouldn’t normally think of adding to a cheese sauce.
I am going to try it, as it doesn’t even have cheese in it, so I am wondering where the cheese flavour comes from, but it does look tasty, and probably a lot healthier than regular cheese sauce.
December 9, 2021 at 1:22 PMHi Michel!
Who knew right lol, chickpeas already have the color of cheese, so I thought why not make chickpeas into a vegan cheese sauce. It is dairy free and chickpeas have a great number of vitamins in them so it’s healthier especially for someone who is lactose intolerant. Nutritional yeast is also healthy and has a cheesy taste to it so it can be used in a lot of vegan cheese recipes. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for stopping by!
December 13, 2021 at 6:32 PMWow just simply amazing with what you can do with foods even as a vegan, so many people believe that the vegan lifestyle is dull and boring and the foods are just not good besides being healthy. But this recipe proves them wrong that we should not only eat but eat healthy. Thanks again for sharing another delicious recipe.
December 14, 2021 at 2:09 PMHi Norman!

January 13, 2022 at 12:34 AMOne of the things I miss more from my diet before I became a vegan is fish and seafood. Sorry for being honest about this. But I must admit that vegan food is way better than I originally imagined. These first two weeks have been good. I would like to try this cheese sauce you recommend here. And I will bookmark your site for more recipes.
