If you have just switched to vegan and you loved pulled pork or you are just looking for a new healthy recipe to try, this is a great recipe to make. I have never made vegan pulled pork at home before this. I recently tried it at a vegan restaurant and it was so good I had to learn how to make it at home. This 3 ingredient pulled pork vegan recipe comes out meaty just like pulled pork and will have a neutral taste to it once you follow the steps below, so that it will take on any flavor you would like to add to it. All you will have to do in the last step is add your favorite BBQ sauce and toppings to make this the perfect lunch or dinner vegan pulled pork sandwich. I also have a great jackfruit salad recipe that I will be sharing in my next post, so be sure to subscribe so you can get my latest upcoming posts sent straight to inbox.

What you will need:

Ingredients

Canned Young Jackfruit – 4 cans (or 2 cans if you don’t plan on storing any for longer than a week), I bought these canned jackfruits in bulk off Amazon here.

BBQ Sauce – 1 jar (18 oz)

Broccoli Slaw – 1/4 cup per sandwich

How do I make this 3-ingredient pulled pork recipe?

1. Pour 4 cans of jackfruit into a colander and rinse well, then transfer to medium to large size pot and heat until boil for 1 hour. This step and the next is going to help get rid of the brine aftertaste flavor and give your jackfruit a neutral taste so that it can take on any flavor you want it to.

2. After boiling for one hour, pour into colander for a second time and rinse well. Then transfer back into pot and heat until boil for one more hour.

3. Rinse off jackfruit and now your jackfruit should have a neutral taste and is ready for you to add your favorite sauce to it.

4. Place jackfruit in large bowl and add your sauce. Mix to coat jackfruit evenly while also pulling your jackfruit apart with two forks or your fingers if it’s easier for you, just make sure to let it cool first because it will be HOT.

5. Place however amount of jackfruit you want to eat into medium size pan and heat on medium temperature for about 10-15 minutes to get a nice and crispy texture to your jackfruit or you can place in oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

6. Add jackfruit to your bun or bun(s) and top with broccoli coleslaw mix or any other topping you’d prefer and enjoy!

How do I store this 3-ingredient pulled pork?

Store in airtight container in fridge for up to 5 days or in airtight plastic bag in freezer for up to 3 months.

What does this 3-ingredient pulled pork taste amazing with?

This recipe goes great with a side of homemade potato chips, fries or your favorite greens.
